In a nutshell, what success did you have as a result of your blog/social media?
How I Built My Book and Business Success with Linkedin
1. Just two years ago in 2008, I put up my first profile at Linkedin.
I learned what to put in my profile to make it more powerful from a mentor. I also edited it 3-4 times to change the point of view from "me" to "YOU", including engaging copy to attract my visitors. The profile updates as well as my participation in related groups, and forming my own book writing, self-publishing and marketing group, my numbers of searches for my name and my audience coming to my profile, to check me out, some to invite me to connect.
2. One year in, I discovered all of my mistakes on LI, similar to my mistakes on FB and Twitter.
From my success, I authored my latest 38page book "Linkedin Marketing:8 Best Tactics to Build your Book and Business Sales
3. I started a group for business book writers, self-publishing, and Internet marketing with an emphasis on social media. Members grew from just a few to now over 1500 as of January 1, 2011. Here, I got to share my wisdom to help people brand themselves with a book and also interact with such stellar names as Shel Horowitz and Kathleen Gage and other business authors and people with services to help authors and businesses. This interaction has built my seminars and full-service business by double or more each month.
I learned enough strategies to save time and build sales that I published my 13th book, "Linkedin Marketing: 8 Best Tactics to Build Book and Business Sales". In this book, I share how I built these targeted numbers in Linkedin, FaceBook,, and now my blog at my bookcoaching business site. The business blog plus Linkedin is the best way.
What was the obstacle that you were facing in your business?
For me obstacles don't exist. I usually meet all challenges with a smile and keep moving on if something doesn't work.
What did you find as a result of using a blog/social media?
Over the past 8 months or so, my time on Linkedin ( about 2 hours a week) has paid off. . As Tony Robbins says, "Results, Results, Results."
Some of my results:
-Result: My bookcoaching business site has increase its targeted traffic by 57%, many from LI, with sales to match since I became more engaged.
-Result: My Alexa rating that tells how my site compares to others is around 240,000, much lower (and better) than its previous score 8 months ago of 500,000.
-Result: 300 sign ups for my free eBook Strategies teleseminar which yielded 12 new clients for a small group bookcoaching series.
-Result: Enough clients to make me and them happy--The numbers range from 8-10 for writing books, and the 5-10 clients who want hands on help with their social media marketing.
-Result: Book sales that make up a third of my Web site and other online income.
My results come from my willingness to do what it takes to get more visibility, credibly and appreciated enough that many will buy books and think of me when they want coaching in these skills sets and strategies to get a much larger presence in Linkedin.

What specific feature do you like most blogging/social media?
The feature I like best with Linkedin is that the groups are really interactive and you'll learn so much when you join a few. All of us need different skills and help, and the LI groups are far active than my experience with Facebook or Twitter, although I use them still.
What other benefits did you experience from blogging/social media?
One big benefit is that I interacted with other wonderful well-known consultants who complement my skills. Many great joint ventures have paid off well.
Is there anything you’d like to add?
Denise, I'd just like to thank for this opportunity to share why Linkedin is a great social media choice. You've been a mentor to me for years, and I honor your teachings on blogs and much more!
