In a nutshell, what success did you have as a result of your blog/social media?
I have had some great success with my social networking. Between my blog, Twitter, LinkedIN and YouTube, I have been able to land:
-- consulting contracts
-- product sales
-- media interviews
-- blog mentions
-- new relationships with people that I'm partnering with on new projects or interviewing in my teleseminar series.
What was the obstacle that you were facing in your business?
Exposure, or rather, lack of exposure! Those that knew us, knew of the fabulous results we could help people get, but there were very few people who knew us.
What did you find as a result of using a blog/social media?
1) Having a goal for each blog or social networking site is priority #1. You will get greater results when you are laser focused on what you want from each platform.
2) Designing a system (some automated and some manual) for posting status updates or posts was integral in me being able to manage my time effectively.
3) It is easy to get lost in time by reading status updates and clicking on links. I schedule specific times during the day to work my various accounts and when the time is up, I move to my other work. This discipline ensures that I don't lose my focus on my goals.
What specific feature do you like most blogging/social media?
My favorite feature is being able to schedule future posts. I have found that when I'm inspired to write, I usually have a number of ideas, not just one post. The scheduling function allows me to write many articles and drip them out over time.
What other benefits did you experience from blogging/social media?
If I am having a rough day, I can guarantee that one of my buddies on Twitter can lift my spirits. I have found that the majority of people that I have connected with are positive and willing to help you when you are stuck.
Is there anything you’d like to add?
The Blog Squad helped me set up my first blog a number of years ago and they were fantastic. I have learned loads from Denise and I'm grateful for all that she shares.
