Are you blogging consistently? And I mean consistently more than once a month! It's been proven time and time again that the more you post, the better it is for getting found by the search engines and getting more traffic.
Yet sadly, when pressed, most people confess to posting infrequently at best. Hey, I'm guilty too. I have three blogs plus a guest posting gig at Social Media Examiner. Sometimes I fall behind and don't hit my goal of 2-3 posts per week.
Thinking about this, I wondered if it would help to have a blogging buddy. Someone to keep you accountable to your blogging goals, whatever they are. Yes, it definitely helps to have an editorial calendar and to schedule your posts. But what about when good intentions go awry?
I've got a conversation going over on the Blog Squad Facebook page about blogging habits. I've suggested that people connect and set up blogging accountability buddies. If that sounds good to you, post your request there too.
5 ways you can support your blogging buddy are:
- Post daily reminders on your buddy's Facebook wall (nothing like making it public to inspire action!)
- Send daily reminders via email
- Meet once a week by phone or Skype to discuss weekly blogging goals and ideas for posts
- Tweet reminders to each other
- Send links to relevant articles to your buddy for inspiration
What do you think? Great idea or ridiculous? Have a better idea for how blogging buddies could support each other? Post them here.
If you are looking for a blogging buddy, go to the Facebook discussion and post your request.

These suggestions are very worthwhile - one more that I'd add: jot down in whatever format you prefer, the great takeaway of the day (inspired by an article, seminar, link, etc.) and document what you have to add to that. It needs to make it onto a blog within 24 hours of the day you heard it.

Another great way to get in touch with the blogging world and keep motivated in by participating in #blogchat opn Sunday nights on Twitter. 6pm pst - every time I participate I take away something of value that I can't wait to implement plus I connect and talk to other bloggers who deal with the same challenges that I do.

I love the idea! I will be looking for someone very soon. Your suggestions of how to use the "buddy system" are great. I going to Face book right now...

Great ideas for people who need more motivation. It IS hard sometimes to keep on blogging and having a buddy can make a difference. Joining blogging "challenges" are good too. #blog30 has been helpful for me. Thanks for a great post!

I love posting and the only time I don't is when I'm under the weather or life has gotten way too busy to stress about posting. Having a blogging buddy is great though. I don't think I have one person per say that I consider my blogging buddy, but I have a lot of good blogging friends that check in on me when they don't see me around.

This idea works well for me, Denise! My boyfriend and I are blogging buddies and it's helped tremendously. Every Sunday, we have a "meeting" when we discuss our posts for the upcoming week. He helps me with ideas for my blog, and I help him with his. It's very comforting to know we've got things figured out on a Sunday night--especially since I post each weekday on different topics. Additionally, we send each other links to stories that are relevant to our businesses. And, since I'm the "editor," I edit all his posts before they go "to print."

Wonderful lessons & profoundly simple ... like all your blogging wisdom. I wouldn't even have a blog without my blogging buddy. I also became a blogging buddy for several other people. Feeling a bit overwhelmed, I fortunately found your content and used your site as an effective teaching tool for my blogging friends and associates.
Thank you.
