How many ways are you leveraging your business blog posts? Most people write a post and that's the end of it. Of course they're probably syndicating their feed to the usual places: Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, at the very least. And that's a good thing.
Yet there are other ways to get more mileage out of your content. My colleague Dr. Rachna Jain wrote about this in a guest blog post on the basics of content syndication. She wrote about repurposing your content into audio, slides and video. Each format is useful and fairly simple to do, and does require an investment of some time.
Another option for leveraging your blog content is to turn your posts into articles and submit them to document sharing sites. This works best for longer form posts or a collection of posts on one topic. I've started doing this with some long form posts I'm writing about the basics of blogging. The articles are first published on Social Media Examiner. They get a two week exclusive. Then, I post them on this blog. Next, I'm recording audio versions which I add to the post and to my Online Visibility Tips podcast.
Then, I copy the post into a word doc, add a short author bio and a call to action (either link back to my blog or to a landing page so people opt in to my free 5-part video course), convert to pdf and submit to five document sharing sites (see below).
Naturally, every new format is automatically sent to my twitter stream and Facebook page. Something for everyone: text, audio, and documents that can be download and/or embedded on other sites. Take a look at how one site, Yudu, formats the document - pretty cool how those pages flip back and forth like a book!

Why would I do this? Because shockingly not everyone knows about or reads my blog! There are people in my target audience hanging out on other sites all over the web. People are looking for information to read, share and learn from, and I want them to find me, just like you want them to find you and your solutions. The document sharing sites are outposts that help put your message in front of new prospects who may have a need for the solutions and services you offer.
Document sharing sites:
I did not come up with this system. I learned about it on a class with Kim Roach during the Ultimate Traffic Generation Telesummit and it made so much sense to me that I started implementing this system right away.
Much of this can be done by a virtual assistant, especially submitting the document to the sites. You provide the info: title, description and keywords, then have your VA do the document conversion and submission. Now you've got that many more paths from high traffic sites leading back to your door.
How many ways are you leveraging your blog posts? What are you doing that brings people back to your blog or website so they can get more from you?

I honestly didn't know that document sharing sites could increase the leverage of our blog posts. I'll try out two or three of these sites soon. Thanks

A friend just asked me today about monetization. I sent her to this blog and specifically to this article. Always on target with the best; always my blog mentor.

Great idea - we should repurpose for maximum effect and when your success is mandatory now than what better way than to do it now while doing the first the blog post. awesome info.
Thanks Greg

Writing an article would really eat a lot of time but if this really works best rather than posting, then let's do it!

Hi Denise! Blog posts are written to reach your target audience. I really liked the new strategy that you suggested wherein posts are made into videos or audio recordings. Even the suggestion to post on document sharing sites is fairly new to me.
We just launched our company website last year through the help of a web development (toronto) expert. They helped us by organizing the information to make the site visually pleasing. Then, a web designer (toronto) customized the templates and even included interesting links and comment boxes for the blog entries. We are still developing the blogs for our website and we would definitely consider the tips that you mentioned on your post. Thanks!
