You may have heard the buzz yesterday that Feedburner (Google) now includes the option to automatically tweet your blog posts via your Feedburner account. While there are MANY other ways to do this (Twitterfeed, Wordpress plugins and TypePad widgets), you now have the option to set it up through your feedburner account as well. Pick the system that works best for you.
Why tweet your blog posts? It gives your blog additional visibility and definitely drives more traffic back to your site. Make sure you have compelling post titles and followers in your twitter stream will click through to read your content.
Here's a quick step by step tutorial with screen shots. Click on any image to see it full size.
Log in to your account and select the blog you want to connect. Then click on the Publicize tab.
Then, scroll down the left sidebar and click on Socialize.
Next, allow Google to access your Twitter account. Click on the Add a Twitter account button.
If you're already logged in to your twitter account, you do not need to provide your login details. Google does not need your login, but you have to be logged in to your twitter account in order to allow Google to connect with your account.
Once your account is connected, set up how you would like your posts to show up in your twitter stream. You have several options for what exactly you want to show. I generally stick to the blog post title only because it doesn't use as many characters and you want to leave enough characters for people to easily retweet your posts.
Finally, you can filter which posts you want to add, or not. I let everything go through. Then click the Activate button and you're finished. Pretty simple.
