Scanning the Blogging category on LinkedIn Answers, I saw this question:
What are the best ways to promote your blog?
The questioner went on to ask:
What strategies do you use to promote your blog? How do you increase the number of your subscribers?
And what do you think about blog features such as videos or radio? Do they help?
Here's my response:
Content is a key element. You must provide relevant, useful content and post consistently and constantly. That will bring you search engine traffic.
Use Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to move your conversations to your blog. After organic search results, twitter generates the most traffic for many business bloggers.
Promote your blog like you would promote any other site: a link in your email sig, in your newsletter, in your article author bio (if you're doing article marketing).
Read and comment on other blogs in your field. This helps you get known by other bloggers. Give before you get. Feature interviews with other bloggers and they may return the favor.
Video is a great way to mix up your content and appeal to multiple learning styles. It also gives your readers a more intimate connection with you. Finally, if you want people to subscribe, the best way is to ask. You must have some sort of call to action to compel people to subscribe. If your content is dynamite and you invite them to subscribe, many people will.
Naturally there are many, many more ways to promote a blog and increase subscribers. The bottom line though it that your content must be first rate and you must pay attention to your key words. The majority of your traffic will come as a result of your blog posts showing up in search results so it pays to target carefully.
Once someone gets to your blog, how will you convert the reader to your list? At the minimum you need to have both email and RSS subscription options as well as a compelling offer to entice the reader to share their contact info.
How do you promote your blog? I love to learn about new promotion strategies and tactics so please share in the comments below.

I agree with you that content is a key element. No matter how much marketing strategies one employ, if his content is gibberish, it will not make good. On the other hand, good content without marketing is equally a failure. In my case, I focus more on forums related to my niche and applying the proper keywords in my compositions. :-)

Good suggestions, Denise, and you started out with the key, quality content.
The problem is that a blog becomes an insatiable content beast that must be fed with regularity.
If Internet marketing is the focus of your blog or Web site, then this content resource site is an awesome tool:

Denise,
I agree with everything you say in this post. You can promote your blog even further by using social bookmarking sites for every post and for every page you place a comment on. Most people forget that with a few extra clicks you can make a big difference in how many people find your blog.

I have made some decent money using my main blog with Google AdSense. But here is a great method I have been using to make money online.
I purchased a digital product from the ClickBank marketplace and reviewed the product. Once I did this, I followed what I read to see if I would get the same results the writer did.
I did a short video teaching others what I learned and then made a recommendation to purchase the product at the end of the video. Of course, I only created a video for the products that actually worked for me. Since these products did work for me, by watching and following the video, you will also benefit by seeing a dramatic increase in conversions.
Then I recommended this product through my own affiliate link. This way I could earn commissions on what others sold. The best way I found to do this was to purchase a meaningful and memorable domain name and redirect the domain to my affiliate link. Then overlay that link in the video.
I usually post my videos on my blogs and send it to my mailing lists to make money. But if you don't have a list, then upload it to YouTube and several other video sharing sites to make you commissions.
It's a great technique that's worked for me.

I truely agree with you as content is king.
Blogging is a great way to put up your experiences and views out for other people to read and ponder over. Businesses who care about keeping great relations with their customers often have one to post latest happenings or to answer queries.
I was very pleased to find this site.I wanted to thank you for this great read!!
I definitely enjoying every little bit of it and I have you bookmarked to check out new stuff you post.
