"It's amazing that people have so much time to fret about today's emergency but almost no time at all to avoid tomorrow's." Seth Godin on Seth's Blog
What can you do now that would be really smart marketing in the face of business uncertainty? What's immediately at your fingertips, doesn't cost much to maintain, and only requires 30-40 minutes a day? It doesn't matter if you're employed by someone else right now or you're freelance. (Hint: starts with a B, ends in a G...)
Use your Business Blog.
Write and write some more. Double the frequency of your publishing. Better yet, improve the quality of your posts by writing useful, relevant stuff that will save your readers time, money and energy.
No matter what your situation, your business blog can do two important things for you in a recession:
- Establish your expertise
- Connect you with people
In a post called Slack, marketing master Seth Godin explains the importance of these two strategies:
2. Earn a following and reputation. Use social networking tools to connect to people for no good reason. Post tons of useful answers on discussion boards where your expertise is valued. Build a permission asset in the form of an email newsletter or a fascinating blog that people want to read.
When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Or, as Hunter S. Thompson put it, "When things get weird, the weird turn pro."
Step up to your blog and show your readers how you can help them improve their lives. Then get over to Twitter and make a few connections. Make sure your blog posts are fed into your Twitter account.
If your business is lagging, look at it as an opportunity to use your time well to prepare for the future.

Very good post. I would also suggest to people to fed their post to twitter. You will be surprised how effective this would be.
