This morning Denise and I are presenting information to a group of business women, only it's not just about business blogging. The Blog Squad is talking about 4 key pieces to the Internet marketing mix: blogging, branding, content and social networking.
This seems to be a trend when we're asked to present to groups. Blogs aren't so much a new fad anymore, and over half of the people we talk to already have a blog for their online marketing. But what people want to know now is how to make it work together for attracting prospects and converting to clients. There's more to it than setting up a blog and posting your latest thoughts...
Here's what we say:
Your blog is the foundation for your social networking. It's where you:
- Establish and build your brand
- Create valuable content for readers
- Communicate your core message
- Educate and engage prospects on a deep level
- Enable readers to interact with you, create relationships and build trust
Then, you use social media (video, audio) and social networking to further attract clients and get your message heard. When you feed your blog posts into your Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter accounts, you can very quickly expand your reach. It draws people back to your blog or website.
Here are 4 steps you should be implementing on a daily basis to build a strong online presence that markets for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:
- A blog – a business blog that clearly identifies what you do, who you work with, and the benefits your clients get
- A brand – more than just a name, it encapsulates your core message and values for easy recall, making it easy for prospects to remember you
- Valuable, relevant content that builds trust and relationships and persuades people to do business with you
- A presence on Social Networking sites to expand your brand and get you known, get found, and get more business AND drive prospects back to your primary hub site --- your blog.
We're speaking at the For You Networking group in Riverside today, and we can't invite you since it's a private group. But if you want to learn more about how this works, why don't you invite us to speak to your group? We love to spread the word!

The part about engaging readers, is good advice.
It is surprising how many popular Bloggers never engage their readers by debating or responding to the comments.
Sometimes too much aloofness can eventually hurt your blog in the long run - regardless of how popular it is currently

Thanks, Public Relations Guru! Thanks for stopping by - but, heck, who are you? It's hard to walk your talk when you talk about aloofness and you don't even sign your real name... what's that all about? Sorry, this is a pet blogger commenting peeve of mine! I say, sign your name, then add your brand if you want. It's hard to have a conversation with a brand...
