I just got my copy of Joe Pulizzi and Newt Barrett's book Get Content, Get Customers: How to use content marketing to deliver relevant, valuable and compelling information that turns prospects into buyers.
This is an important book for any business professional who wants to master marketing with content. Content marketing is the new style of marketing that uses valuable relevant content to build relationships with clients. I thought I'd share a few paragraphs that resonated with me.
On business blogs:
Today they play key content marketing roles, enabling honest dialogue with customers who care deeply about your company, products, and content. Be sure to establish a blogging strategy that integrates with your content marketing strategy. Begin by asking the right questions:
- Why are you blogging?
- What will you blog about?
- Who will blog?
- Can you maintain frequent blog entries?
- Can you accept negative feedback and respond openly and honestly?
These questions are a major part of the work we do when we set up a new blog for our clients.
You must consider carefully these questions before you start blogging. Otherwise you might be setting yourself up for an unwise use of your time and energies.
Business blogging can be extremely effective for marketing and growing your business when done wisely. There are numerous case studies in this book Get Content, Get Customers, and pages of sample business blogs. It's well worth getting it and studying it.

Pretty interesting stuff. By any chance, have you read Naked Conversations, or any of Seth Godin's books?

Thanks for the mention. You are right, so many people want to actually "do" something, but don't start out by asking the "what, why and how".
Keep up the great work!
