In a recent poll of 1096 bloggers over at Problogger.net, 316 reported they posted 1-10 times during the month of May.
Grrrr....*%&#...?!!!
Did you hear that? Yes, that was the sound of The Blog Squad groaning and rolling their eyes to the Heavens with a look of disgust and discouragement!
People, wake up! It won't work unless you work it! You need to post more frequently if you want to master the fine art of coming up in searches!
There are many who are posting 11-20/month (195) and 21-30/mo. (164). Overall, there are 321 bloggers posting more than once a day. And 100 of the readers polled reported they didn't post at all in May.
Darren Rowse has always been a leader in building community through reader participation over at Problogger.net. You can learn a lot about how to run a successful blog just by visiting and subscribing to his blog. While I was poking around over there this week, I found this poll:
"How many times did you post on your blog in May?" (1096 responses)
Results:
0 = 100
1-10 = 316
11-20 = 195
21-30 = 164
31-40 = 96
41-50 = 51
51-60 = 34
61-70 = 32
71-80 = 14
81 + = 94
We recommend a business blog have fresh content at a minimum two to three times a week.
However, Darren and co-author Chris Garrett say in their book Problogger: "If you are just starting out, attempt to post to your blog four or five times a week while you're finding your feet; over time you'll find a rhythm develops that suits you and your readers."
The most important thing is quality and usefulness, otherwise readers will stop finding value in going to your blog. Frequent posting is better, quality and frequent posts are even better.
Here's how to learn how to do this quickly and efficiently:

I took a look at that poll and I was plumb amazed!
I had 55 blog posts for May.
Oh, I know why. There were way more than average numbers of Seminars in May (virtually the WORST month to hold them-just before July, December & August).
I usually end up with more than one post a day most months. I have been paying attention!

We cannot forget the quality of posts versus the quantity. I rather see blog owners post twice a week with some real solid and useful content than just posting some quick remarks several times a day and treat their blog as if it would be TWITTER ;-) The purpose of RSS feeds is to have a subscription to USEFUL content, the next questions is than HOW CAN WE DIGEST all those blog posts just from ONE source we are subscribed too. I mean, yes, hey, if it is awesome content, I might dedicate an hour or so each day for each feed I ams ubscribed too. ;-)

"You need to post more frequently if you want to master the fine art of coming up in searches!"
"The most important thing is quality and usefulness, otherwise readers will stop finding value in going to your blog."
The quotes above seem to be contradictory.

Maybe so, but think about this, Marios. You need both quality and quantity. You need to post frequently about your expertise, using the keywords that people would use to find you, and do that frequently.
And, readers aren't going to subscribe and keep coming back unless you provide reasons for them to do so.
One doesn't exclude the other. It's never a question of doing one and not doing the other. And there is never only one most important thing and then that's it.
Thanks for bringing the issues up, Marios.

Hi,
Just met you at twitter. Incidentally, I just posted on my blog about my thoughts of blogging frequency and you can find the link below my comment.
Anyway, I made an analysis of the effect of different blogging frequency - everyday, twice a day, once a week and others.
To sum it all, I think that it depends on the blogger and how he make such posts.
Blogging once a week does not mean you cannot invite tons of readers to your blog.
On the other hand, blogging everyday is not also a guarantee.
It's still content that is the key.
Thanks.

Oh! I am so sorry but I have a different user name on twitter - pandong.
My real name is Angel Cuala but you can call me Angel. I am a part time blogger and a father of two. I did not use Guardian Angel on twitter because it was already taken.
I seldom use my real name but you can find some of my articles at Ezine Articles under my real name. There are also other on-line communities where I use my real name, and you can find them by typing my name at Google Search.
Thanks.

Angel, I don't know about others, but I find it somewhat annoying when people use pseudonyms or company names or marketing names instead of their real names. If someone wants to converse with me, either on a blog or on Twitter, I say, be real, tell me your name.
