Valencia Ray, M.D., is an eye surgeon who recently launched her business blog, The Confidence Doc. This is a career shift for her as she is now focusing on personal insight, self-esteem and confidence issues.
"While it is very gratifying to help people to see better with their eyes to function within their lives, it can be even more rewarding at times to help others see their own inner possibilities for empowerment," says Dr. Ray.

A recent post, Self Esteem and the Healthy Paradox of Wholeness, really simulated my thinking about this whole left-brain/right-brain thing. Dr. Ray talks about the video clip of Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, a brain scientist who speaks about her own experience with a left-brain stroke. You must look at the video - it is really amazing.
The video is in Dr. Ray's post Self-Esteem and Confidence Are Core Issues Part 1. It is a personal story of a scientist who experienced a stroke and lived to tell exactly what she felt. Most importantly, her experience of pure right-brain functioning when the left hemisphere was shut down is mind-blowing!
Dr. Ray is able to translate scientific findings into real-world advice for just about anybody wishing to improve their self-confidence and esteem. She bridges the scientific world and personal development issues.
