Biz School for Bloggers at SOBCon 08
I'm excited to report that I (Denise) am going to be attending SOBCon08 aka Biz School for Bloggers, this year. At last year's BlogHer conference I heard so much about what a great event Liz Strauss had put on the first year that when I saw the announcement for this year's event, I knew I had to be there.
I've met Liz, author of Successful and Outstanding Blog(gers), a couple of times and love her energy and enthusiasm for all things blogs. Plus at this year's SOBCon in Chicago (May 2-4) there are going to be some heavy hitters in the blogging world and the focus is totally on how to make your blog work as a business tool (I look forward to picking Brian Clark's brain about his Teaching Sells model). Yeah! We can relate to that.
Sadly, Patsi isn't able to join me at, but The Blog Squad will be ably represented by me. If you can get to Chicago the first weekend of May, I heartily recommend you do so. Here's a brief blurb about the event:
“This year, we’re calling it, Biz School for Bloggers, but it’s about all forms of Internet business and social media. The totally interactive format is focused on building an actionable plan that combines the solid thinking and models of business with the social culture and nuances of the Internet,” says Liz Strauss, the content creator. “Speakers present the most-successful “how-to” model in their field of Internet expertise. Then participants, working in 6-person mastermind teams, collaborate and apply that part of the model to their business. At the end of the day, each attendee has given their business a 360 degree.”
And check out this line up of speakers:
Anita Bruzzese from Gannett USA Today, on online reputation management, Brian Clark, Copyblogger, on online business models that work, Lorelle VanFossen of Lorelle on WordPress, one focusing your business to get noticed, Chris Garrett, on managing the editorial, Chris Brogan, on social media and social networking choices that produce, Dave Bullock, on a sales model that converts, Liz Strauss, how to build an irresistible offer and Wendy Piersall on success management.
If you're attending, please let me know. Let's have breakfast or lunch or a drink together in Chicago.
