This is big! This is what I and many other TypePad lovers have been waiting for...the ability to create stand alone pages that are not actual blog posts but single content pages, like you have on a website or like one can do with Wordpress. This is awesome.
I just stumbled on this new feature when I was posting. I haven't posted in a couple of days since I was at a conference. If there was an annoucement (May 16) I missed it.
With the new TypePad Pages, you can use all the power of TypePad's posting tools to create as many individual web pages as you want. And those pages have all the power of TypePad's widgets and rich media features, automatically inheriting the look and feel you've chosen for your blog.
The TypePad interface you use every day to update your blog now lets you create a web page as easily as you’d write a post.
As soon as I have time to experiment with this new feature, I'll report back, as I'm sure many other TypePad lovers will be doing as well. Finally!

Looking forward to hearing more about this. I am not quite sure how I can use this for myself. But as usual, once I get used to it, I may wonder what I did without it! Thanks Denise!

Hi Denise,
This is exactly what I was waiting for. This was one of the functions that TypePad was lacking compares to WordPress. Now they have it.
Great stuff!

John: the benefit here is that you can create a "home page" for your blog, if you wish and treat it more like a "traditional" website with static pages that are not in the same format as a blog post. I know this might sound confusing, but you could have a home page that links to your blog, then a "contact us" page, bio pages for multiple authors. Many people have been able to work around the lack of static pages, but in the end, they are blog posts.
Anyway as soon as I have some time, I'll play with this and give more details about how this can work.

John,
I think one of the main benefit is that with pages, you can define your own file name.
For example, if you write a post on say “why should you use TypePad”, your file name will be automatically given by TypePad program. It will not include the full title. Where as if you post the same article as a page, you can define your own filename. This will be useful for Search Engine Optimization.
Cheers

Big deal.
Wordpress.com the *free* version of Wordpress has had pages since day one.
Most people at a minimum over on Wordpress have an "about me" / "about the blog" page.
There are many other things you can do with pages though...they make great pages for content/things you intend to be referred to frequently (which is not necessarily true of individual blog posts)
