Yesterday, Patsi and I had the privilege and pleasure of presenting a session at the Publishers Marketing Association University, here in New York City. We shared the podium with Sheila Ruth of Wands and Worlds. Our topic...Why Every Book Needs a Blog.
We had a full house - 50-60 folks in the room. Some already have blogs which we see as a great advance from last year when we presented at the same event in Washington DC.
I would share the handout with you but I don't have it on this computer. I'll post it when I get back to my office. In the meantime, here's the video we showed as part of our presentation.
We've also had the pleasure of reconnecting with some "old" friends: Paulette Ensign, Andrew Chapman and Penny Sansevieri. And we've met some new friends. This morning a reader of this blog, Ramon Ray of Small Biz Technology, met us for a quick breakfast. It's always great to meet fellow bloggers in person.
We sat in on a few marketing sessions and this is the bottom line from every expert we heard: as an author, you must be ready, willing and able to do all your own promotion and selling. Period. And the best way to do that is using the Internet. And what's the best tool for getting found on the web? You got it...a blog.

It was a pleasure to finally meet you in person, and I enjoyed speaking with you. Your presentation was very interesting and informative. Thanks for speaking at PMA's Publishing University!
