Received an email yesterday from Mohit Singhania at Best Blog Basket saying he had tagged us as part of his project called Be Original. We are asked to share several ways that we create original content for our blogs. Seems pretty straight-forward. So here are 6 ways I create original content:
1. As blog and marketing consultants, we get a lot of questions from clients and others about how to do stuff. I could simply reply by email, and I usually do. But then I will often use the Q and A as a blog post. I'm a big fan of repurposing content.
2. Write about current projects and what I'm learning around the topic. Client case studies are a great source of content as well.
3. Write about the people I meet and events I attend. This is great blog fodder since meeting fellow bloggers and attending conferences and workshops sparks tons of new ideas.
4. Write about the tools and resources, tips and tricks that I discover and test. Especially if I want to recommend them to my readers.
5. Google Alerts. This the best resource for keeping abreast of what's going on in one's industry. The down side is the flood of information I get, but I'm pretty good at scanning and picking the one thing that jumps out at me. I keep a running list of blog ideas and blog posts as inspiration.
6. Create a short poll about something you want to know. This encourages interactivity, comments and when you decide to close the poll, you can write about the results.
Now, it's your turn. How do you "Be Original" on your blog? When you post your list, be sure to link to this post and trackback so I can check out your tips! Plus, go to Mohit's blog to review his guidelines.

Hi,
Thanks for the tip on Google Alerts. I just created an alert on my blog topic. I think it's an easy way to find good content to post on my Blog daily.
Thanks again.

Hi Denise,
I too love the Google alert trick. I knew it was there but didnt think it can be used to great effect. Also, I tried the poll option but that didnt work out for me. I think how to create effective polls would be a totally new post.
