What are 5 simple things The Blog Squad does every day that build success? Good question asked by Aaron Potts of Today is That Day blog. Denise and I are on his list of favorite blogs, so he tagged us to contribute and tag other people. As if that wasn't enough, Ellen Britt of Marketing Qi also tagged us. I won't, however, double the number of success tips.
Since Denise is chained to her computer and calculator doing the dreadful bookkeeping and taxes boogie, I'll answer for us.
- Each evening review what is done and what needs to be done. This is a brain success tip, btw. Give your mind a few things to work on in your sleep. You'll find you wake up with ideas and energy.
- Always review to-do lists with an attitude of gratitude. Instead of thinking, "OMG, there's so much to do," think, "OMG, I'm so lucky to have all the time and energy I'll need to get done what matters most." (Fake this if you must. You can always tell yourself if something didn't get done it must not have mattered that much.)
- Think: "What can I do to make this day fun and creative?" If you are bored, so will be your clients, your writing, your work. Laughing, or at least chuckling, should be required.
4. Get the grunt work out of the way by breaking boring tasks into chunks. Each time you go back to one, you can say, "almost done."
5. Always break for exercise. I use my lunch break as a self-imposed appointment to get to the gym where I either play tennis, or read while on a cardio machine.
My biggest success tip: (of course!) Team up with a partner who has similar work ethics and success habits as you, and who is good at doing what you're not good at. (Thanks, Denise, for doing the money counting thing!)
