Dave Sifry CEO of Technorati, the large blog search directory, gives an update on the growth of blogs worldwide. It is interesting he calls his annual report on the blogosphere the "State of the Live Web" this time. (I remember saying that in 5 years we won't be saying "blogs" anymore...)
Did you know that 37% of blogs are in Japanese? English language is 2nd with 36%. Chinese is 3rd with 8% and Italian and Spanish (3%) are next followed closely by Russian and French (2%).
For a nifty bulleted summary list of the report, visit Debbie Weil's blog here.
I sure wish there were a way to segment these stats by blog topics and purpose, don't you? Like how many business blogs are there?

Yes, the number of business blogs -- out of the 71 million total blogs Technorati was reportedly tracking as of May 2007-- seems elusive. Any estimates?
