Question #5 in Paul Chaney's blogging questionnaire is about blogging platforms...
What blogging platform did you use to start with? What are you using now and why?
I started with TypePad because Patsi set up her blog on TypePad. I've stayed with TypePad because I like the features and the constant improvments in the platform. I also feel that I've mastered it pretty well and that it's an excellent solution for the types of clients we work with: service professionals who may not be tech savvy or have a big budget for web design. TypePad is affordable and pretty darn reliable and relativey simple to use.
Your turn. What blogging platform are you using and why?

Blogware on my personal blog (it's sponsored by them), but Wordpress for clients. Just so flexible and powerful. Oh yeah, and free!

We went with and have been quite happy with TypePad.

It's easy to use for the non-tech and they offer dozens of plug in features one would usually need to resort to custom code to achieve without TypePad.
My personal blog is on Blogger. The new beta seems finally up to speed. Previously, the lack of tagging was a strong limitation. Also, searching didn't function well.
I think my next blog will be on WordPad or Movable Type. I often hear great things about both these tools.

I started with Blogger but moved to Wordpress on my own domain and hosting. I have been very happy with the level of customization and availability of themes, plugins, and other tools.

Free is not always so good. Wordpress is great, but you have more features and can tweak the templates and ad things like adsense when you have your own domain name and hosting. I guess it depends on what you hope to gain from your blog. I use Wordpress for all my blogs, but I host them myself. Gives me more of an advantage.
