Blogging Lessons Learned and Personal Growth
The next three questions that Paul Chaney poses in his blogging questionnaire seem to go together so that's how I've answered...
Looking back over the years since you started blogging, what would you say are some lessons you've learned as a result? What were some "serendipities" you've experienced along the way?
How have you grown personally by blogging?
How has blogging impacted you professionally? What rewards have you achieved as a result of blogging?
These 3 questions all go together in my mind. Personally and professionally I've become more extroverted (I'm a natural introvert which is probably why blogging appeals to me) and much more open to playing bigger. I actually leave my home office to attend conferences :-) I no longer fear offers to speak, in fact I embrace them. I am proud and confident of what I know and how I can help others to achieve similar success. Blogging has helped establish my credibility and expertise through expressing what I know either on my many blogs or through teleseminars or speaking gigs.
My business has gone in a direction I never anticipated: moving from a solo professional to having a business partner and incorporating an entirely new business with a heavy emphasis on integrating blogs into clients' Internet marketing mix.
Like so many have said before, I've met some of the most incredible people through blogging. Friends that I look forward to meeting in person when possible. Joint venture opportunities have materialized and been successful. I love this new style of online social networking and embrace the continual learning it requires.
If you're curious about how some of our blogging colleagues are answering these questions, Paul has posted a couple of the responses he's received so far:
Wayne Hurlbert, Blog Business World, Wayne was one of the first people we interviewed in Conversations with Experts and gave a great talk on blogs and search engine optimization.
Toby Bloomberg, Diva Marketing
Your turn. How have you grown, personally and professionally from blogging? What have you learned?
