We're getting close to the end of Paul Chaney's blogging questionnaire. Today's question is:
How have you seen blogging change or evolve since you started?
I started in September 2004 and frankly was not aware of blogging for business purposes before that. My experience had been reading political blogs during the 2004 U.S. elections. Since that time, I have witnessed blogs becoming more "mainstream" if I dare say that. I know there are still a gazillion people who do not know what a blog is, yet as a business tool, there is definitely more interest as evidenced by the number of teleclasses and interviews we are invited to do for various business groups, as well as the number of new clients contacting us every week.
Since I never was interested in blogs as personal journals, I can only say that in my experience with business blogging, they are becoming an accepted way of marketing any kind of business. It's almost to the point where if a business doesn't have a blog, then they are leaving money on the table in terms of reaching more potential clients and customers. The value in relationship building and search engine optimization cannot be overstated.
Your turn. What have you noticed in the evolution of blogging?
