Colleague and friend Paul Chaney, Vice-President of Marketing at Blogging Systems LLC, recently interviewed Denise and I about our blogging history, journey, and perspectives. We will answer separately, and Denise suggested I start by sharing my story with readers here on this blog.
In the interest of keeping your boredom factor filters at bay, I'll divide it up into several posts and hide most of it in the extended post feature...okay, just trying to warn you this is all about me, me, me...
BUT! Here's what we'd like you to do: submit to us your own answers to the following questions. We'd love to hear about you, you, you. Just hit the comment link below and answer the following 4 questions.
When did you start blogging?
On my birthday, Sept. 4, 2004. I opened an email from Debbie Weil about how important blogs were going to be for businesses, and how easy to set one up. Even a techno-idiot would be able to do one, or something like that, Debbie’s email said. I thought I would probably prove her wrong, but I managed to get it started in a couple of hours. Boy was I proud of myself!
When you started, what were your conceptions about blogs? Did you see them as a marketing tool?
My reason for opening my first blog was to create a place to write content for my ebook on writing professional e-newsletters. I was using it as a content management system, using the categories to group things together. It wasn’t until later that I realized that having all that relevant content on the Web meant that people could find me more easily. Traffic to my website doubled, and then tripled. Revenues began to increase… after years of trying to ‘build my list’ of subscribers, they shot up exponentially.
What was the name of your first blog?
CoachEzines.com = a blog for coaches/consultants who wanted to write better ezines.
What did you first start blogging about?
All about ezines: What you need to know before you start your e-newsletters, how to write it, format it, distribute it, where to get ideas for content. Then it evolved into other areas where writing is important, for example press releases, web content, sales copy, and a lot about blog writing.
What blogging platform did you use to start with? What are you using now and why? Stay tuned for subsequent posts...

I am a newbie at blogging - started my blog in October 2006. Told ya I was a newbie.
I started my blog in order to communicate with existing clients, without sending e-mails, communicate to a broader community, and a way to gather more potential clients.
My first blog is called Naples Florida Real Estate Homes - obviously it is about real estate in Naples, Bonita Springs and Estero Florida.
I had someone set up the blog for me on Wordpress and hosting it on bluehost.
The biggest hurdle that I face is that I more number analytical, so my points are rather brief and to the point.
