On the road yesterday, on the way to my lunch date, I took the opportunity to listen to a presentation by Chris Anderson, author of The Long Tail. The presentation was from the BookExpo America last May. I refer to this audio program as a follow up to our Conversation last week with Mike Levin of HitTail.com and his use of the Long Tail theory to build customized lists of keywords for websites based on actual search to the site.
In this presentation, you can hear in his own words, Chris Anderson's definition and explanation of The Long Tail. Sometimes it gets a bit technical, and it's a great lesson straight from the source.
Now, what sets this presentation apart from being just a lesson on The Long Tail, is that Anderson talks about how he wrote the book and used his Long Tail blog as a research tool to engage his audience and test ideas. Anderson credits the participation of his readers with assisting in development of his theories and ideas. On multiple levels, I highly recommend you listen to this program.
