I haven't been very good about using the blog editors. I guess after 2 1/2 years of using the TypePad editor, it's just not in my brain to use a different method. However, I am using Qumana to write this post. Be sure to read the comments on my original post about Desktop Blog Editors. Margaret Saizan who writes on Hurricane Katrina Recovery posted an excellent review about her experience with Adobe's Contribute editor.
I've used Contribute once and Qumana a few times. Of the two, I prefer Qumana. Contribute seemed slow and I agree with Margaret's comments about the inconvenience of not being able to assign your post to multiple categories. If you want to the great features of both TypePad and Contribute, you have to log in to both systems, which of course is both time consuming and inefficient. One thing about both Contribute and Qumana is that their spell check is far superior to TypePad's!
I'd say that's my gripe with Qumana as well. One thing I like about Qumana is their integrated ads that you can include in your blog post. Many bloggers want to monetize their blogs and Qumana's QAd makes that pretty simple to do. And, you can customize the look of the ad to match the look and feel of your blog.
I haven't tried Microsoft's Live Writer yet and will let you know when I do.

You write about the spell check facility, well upgrade to Firefox 2 and you will have an inline spell checker.
You can then type away within TypePad and have your spelling checked there and then - it works like a dream.

I have been using Blogjet as a writing editor for two years. I like it, but I will check out the other resources you shared.
Contribute looked good but I have been having a tough time with Adobe Downloads (Trial and upgrading Acrobat) on my machine and their response time is not good. That alone makes me want to look somewhere else for a product if I am in the market for a new editing program.
Thanks for all the resources you provide.
