I think it is important to offer as many options as possible for people to stay in touch with your website.

It is also important to remember who your target audience is. In my case it is older people where the take-up of RSS is still very low, but willingness to use email remains strong.

The growth of RSS as a content delivery vehicle has been held back by the need to understand what it is and how to capture it.

When Internet Explorer 7 is released - with its RSS button bolted into the toolbar - you will see it achieve mass market penetration. When people start using the RSS button to bookmark sites then there could well be an explosion in the consumption of RSS content.

I expect the blog writing jobs boards will be seeing plenty of activity very soon.
