A couple of weeks ago I posted on my Biz Tips Blog about being a part of the LinkedIn Bloggers Network. As a new initiative to bring awareness to the myriad blogs in the network, the group has started a weekly Blog Boost that will feature a randomly selected blog. Anyone in the network who wants to participate or feels the blog's content is compatible with their audience, is invited to post about and link to the blog on a given day.
Today's blog boost is for a blog called Me, Myself and I.
When I surfed around this blog, I couldn't find anything that really compelled me to want to boost it. So I decided I would do a mini Blog Squad Makeover critique since there are many elements missing that I think could make this blog a lot better.
My observations are in no particular order of importance.
- There is no information or picture of the author. I have no idea who is writing this blog. When I click on the About Me button, there are advertising banners and a link to get your name converted to Japanese.
- I cannot figure out the focus of this blog. A look at the categories reveals a broad range of topics, from jobs in Nigeria to health and wellness. Who is the target audience? What is the desired outcome for this blog? Now, you know my focus is on using blogs as a business tool. That may not be the purpose at all of this particular blog, but I have no idea.
- There is an RSS feed for subscribers, however it is buried at the bottom of the right column. I would suggest moving it to the top of the column if the author is interested in getting subscribers.
- I would also suggest adding an email subscription form, like Feedblitz.
- The Wordpress template is a nice simple design, colors are pleasing to the eye.
Bottom line is this: a blog is often a reflection of the author's personality and in this case I have no idea who the author is or the purpose of the blog; it leaves me confused. My advice...tell us who you are!

Patsi & Denise,
Thanks for the Critique, I'll make a couple of changes especially to the About Me page. I'll put up a picture and relevant info.
Hopefully, you'll like what you see the next time.

I agree that finding something to "boost about" was very difficult because this blog just didn't give anything away.
We need to sort out some better systems for this blog boost to work...I'll post that in the linkedin group though.
Cheers,
Yaro

I think the value of the blog boost, in this case may have been to alert the blogger that his blog could be more powerful with more personal information and/or letting the readers know his purpose. Since the boost, Luminus has made some changes and I think that's a positive thing. Bloggers helping bloggers.
